OpenRock Pro Bluetooth Earbuds Review: Sound, Design and Price

The video is in Arabic.

Hey everyone,

A new experience for me: open-ear earbuds, with the OneOdio OpenRock Pro. Thanks to OneOdio for sending a sample for review, and the review is my own opinion with no influence. A huge 16.2 mm dynamic driver, Bluetooth 5.2 with SBC, AAC and aptX, 19 hours of battery plus 46 hours from the case, and IPX5 water and dust resistance according to the company. They were $130 at the time of the review.

Who is it for?

• Anyone who wants earbuds that don’t go in the ear, especially for sports, the gym and walking, used in a quiet place.

Strengths

• The soundstage is shocking: huge, deep and tall for something that sits on the ear.
• Imaging is really excellent, and separation is distinctive.
• The mids are natural and balanced, with no bass bleed.
• The treble is balanced and sparkly, with no harshness at moderate volume.
• Really comfortable, and water and dust resistant.
• For gaming the soundstage is very big, footsteps are very clear, and I didn’t notice delay.

Weaknesses

• The sub-bass is almost non-existent, and the bass won’t suit fans of bass or a warm sound.
• Everything depends on a quiet place: on the street or in the car the details get lost, and I could only enjoy podcasts.
• They connect to one device only.
• The company’s app didn’t recognize them on my Android phone.
• Harshness appears when you turn it up and with weak recordings.

Verdict

If you want earbuds that are neither a headphone nor an IEM, meaning they don’t go in your ear, I think they’re the right choice for you.

Note: this review is from 2024, so the price may have changed.
