Apple AirPods Pro 2 Review: Are They Worth Buying?

The video is in Arabic.

Hey everyone,

The second generation AirPods Pro are among the most famous Bluetooth earbuds ever, but this review is about the sound, not the features everyone talks about. An H2 chip and the AAC codec only. They were $249 at the time of the review. I tested them in ANC and Transparency modes, without Spatial Audio because my phone is Android.

Who is it for?

• Anyone who cares about small size, noise cancelling, battery and calls, especially on iPhone. Not for anyone who cares about sound performance.

Strengths

• The best noise cancelling, hands down, and it doesn’t change the sound: in the car at 100 I heard nothing.
• Transparency mode is very realistic.
• The mic is very good on calls.
• I didn’t notice any audio delay with videos.
• The sub-bass quantity is excellent and fills the space, and the treble is smooth and easy on the ears.
• The signature is neutral-warm, and most people will like it.

Weaknesses

• AAC only: it doesn’t even reach 320 MP3 quality.
• The soundstage is small and close, and imaging and layering are only good.
• Small details are below average (4 out of 10).
• The bass quality is ordinary, and it bleeds into the mids.
• Thin vocals are pushed back.

Verdict

For sound alone, they’re not worth even half their price. The 7Hz Zero ($20) with the Hiby WU1 adapter beat them in everything except noise cancelling, for about $100 total. There are lots of options, like the SeeAudio Yume with the Hiby WU1, all for less than their price.

Note: this review is from 2022, so the price may have changed.

Note: this product is discontinued, but you might find it used in the market.
